The South County, Rhode Island chapter of Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) is hosting an intersectional and interactive art installation. Where’s Your Privilege, RI? will take place in a pop-up gallery at Hera Gallery in Wakefield, Rhode Island in late January 2018. This is an opportunity to highlight and celebrate the work of local artists of color, explore how privilege shapes an individual’s narrative, and communicate the ways in which collective privilege is tied to institutional oppression. The art exhibition will be interactive and work as a dialogue between artists and audience. Visitors will grapple with the layers that make up their own privilege and white people, in particular, may gain a greater understanding of white privilege.
