Princess Red Wing, was a Wampanoag/Narragansett author and public school teacher. Red Wing's "Indians of Southern New England" is a concise summary of the cultures of the Indian tribes of Southern New England. What Red Wing describes and discusses in these pages is important because she was writing about the cultures of indians from an Indian perspective before it became common practice. Her writings demonstrates her ability to protect, preserve, and present Narragansett culture.
